Art and Cinema

Renault and the cinema

In 1899, Louis Renault appeared in a film at the wheel of his first car, designed a year earlier. This event marked the start of the love story between Renault and the cinema, that has lasted for over a hundred years. Renault has been a partner of the Cannes Film Festival for over 25 years.

Renault's modern art collection

This collection of more than 300 works was put together between 1967 and 1985. At the start, it was an original approach to corporate philanthropy. The idea was not to buy finished works that were already on the market, but to put in place a policy of cooperation with contemporary artists who were interested in industry but had yet to make a name for themselves. Today, these artists are part of history. They include Arman, Jean Dubuffet, Victor Vasarely, Jean Tinguely, Erro, Takis and Henri Michaux.
